For Who: The Teaneck Teen Idol Contest is for all boys and girls in 7th to 12th grades, 13 to 18 years old, who either live in Teaneck or go to school in Teaneck. Students must show proof of living or going to school in Teaneck at the audition. The contest is in its 17th year
When: In-person auditions will be held:
• At Rodda Center:
Tuesday, November 12, 2nd Fl., MP rooms 3 & 4, from 6 to 8:30 pm
• At Teaneck High School:
Wednesday, November 13, Room 244, 4 to 6:30 pm

How: Live auditions are simple! The student will sing two songs, a cappella (without accompaniment) for 2 minutes: one song of your own choice, the other “Happy Birthday.”
What’s next: Finalists will be contacted before Thanksgiving. They will then be coached for song choice, vocals, and performance. Students must commit to a coaching schedule, dress rehearsal, and singing at the contest. Parents give consent.
Contest: Saturday, January 11, 2025, 8 pm, Teaneck High School.
Always a great, fun, exciting night! Finalists sing in front of a live audience.* Judges select the top 5 singers. The top 5 perform a second song and the audience votes for the winner. *Performance order will be adjusted to Sabbath needs.
Prizes: The Teaneck Teen Idol receives a free, invaluable recording session of 3 songs at an award-winning recording studio in NYC, a $500 cash prize and the opportunity to sing with the Teaneck Community Chorus.
First and second runners up receive cash prizes too.
Facts: Two Teaneck Teen Idol winners have appeared on The Voice! Two middle school students have won. Many middle school and high school students have returned to audition and compete again and again because they had a good time and wanted to win. It’s an amazing experience no matter if you are a 7th grader or a senior!
